Council Biographies

Marianne Bell

Originally from Southern Ontario, Marianne moved to Perth-Andover from Halifax in 1993 with her husband, Dr. David Bell.  Their two adult children, Victoria and Owen, were born and raised in Perth-Andover.

In addition to serving as Mayor of the Village of Perth-Andover since May 2016, Marianne volunteers in numerous roles in the community:  executive member of the Rotary Club of Perth-Andover, founder/facilitator of Perth-Andover Book Club,  Chair of the Carleton Victoria Community Vocational Board, elder & music leader at her church, and (when possible) conductor of Perth-Andover Community Choir.    Marianne has worked and volunteered in adult education and taught English at Southern Victoria High School for 5 years.  She has a B.A. (English Literature) from the University of Western Ontario, an M.A. (English) from the University of Toronto, an M.Ed. (Adult Education) from Dalhousie University, and a B.Sc. (Secondary Education) from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Tamara (Tami) McPhail

A lifelong resident of Perth Andover Tami with her husband Joe have raised their three children Brett Brad and Brittany in the Village.

This is Tami's first term on the village council, however, she was previously a member of the PA Recreation Commission, Vice President of Andover Elementary Home and school. A member of the board and chair of the PA Syrian Refugee support committee and various other volunteer positions.

As a medical secretary, Tami has worked in several areas of health care, as a desk clerk on the ward at Hotel Dieu Hospital, surgeons office, pharmacy technician, and now in the dental field.

Tami’s hope is to work with the council to continue to endorse ongoing work that sustains the quality of life, encourages business growth, and quality of Health care.

Sheila Cummings

Sheila Cummings grew up in Perth-Andover. This is her second term on council. She has 35 years of experience in the education system as a teacher and administrator. Sheila has experience serving on Boards, including Future Footprints Family Centre Board (presently Chair), Crandall University Board of Governors (presently Chair), 6 years on the NBTA/NBTF Board, and National and Atlantic Cabinets of Gideons International in Canada.

Sheila enjoys officiating locally and nationally with Athletics New Brunswick. She volunteers with the Pre-Kindergarten program at Andover Elementary. She volunteers with and is on the Board of River Valley Thunder Hockey (presently the President). She is active at her local church. Sheila is interested in Flood Mitigation, Health Care Reform, Affordable Housing (for Seniors, Families, and all others), Economic Development, Job Creation, Recreation, Reliable high-speed internet, and Promoting Perth-Andover.

 

Jason Green

Born in St. John's NL and raised in Perth-Andover, Jason lives with his wife Julie, son Anson and daughter Ainsley.

This is Jason's second term as a councilor for Perth-Andover. He has been an active volunteer in the Village having served with the Perth-Andover Fire Department, the Larlee Creek Hullabaloo, and the Gathering of the Scots. Jason's voice is often heard announcing Thunder hockey games, the SV Skate Show, hosting the Winter Carnival Queen's Pageant and as auctioneer at the Annual Rotary Auction.  He is currently the Vice-Principal at Tobique Valley High School.

Jason has coached hockey and golf and started a middle school rugby program that has developed into 2 successful high school programs.

Cindy McLaughlin

This is Cindy’s second term as a Councillor for the Village of Perth-Andover. Her hometown for her entire life. Cindy graduated from Southern Victoria High school long before getting her Business Administration degree from Husson University with a Certificate in Accounting in August of 2020. She believes you are never too old to learn.

As a business owner herself, with several residential and commercial rentals and stores throughout the village, Cindy has focused on supporting local businesses in Perth-Andover. She is also a member of the Perth Elks Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion and has always been dedicated to her community.

Cindy will focus on supporting new jobs in our area, maintaining fiscal responsibility for our citizens, and hopes to encourage growth in our beautiful village.

 

Sheldon Shaw

Sheldon

Sheldon Shaw is a graduate of Acadia University in English and Political Science. Following graduation, Sheldon embarked on a career in National Security spending time at two Federal agencies focused on non-proliferation and cybersecurity.

Following his career in government service, he went on to focus on cyber analytics targeting financial and industrial sectors.

Sheldon is currently the Vice President of Infrastructure and Innovation at CyberNB where he continues to apply focus on critical infrastructure operations, transparency and compliance measures, and cyber analytics to combat cyber intrusions in a variety of sectors.
